Bio / About

Ashok R. Chandran is a book editor and writing trainer. He edits scholarly books and articles in the social sciences and conducts workshops on academic writing for students, researchers, and professionals.

Ashok lives in Palakkad. He founded and serves as the List Editor of the Kerala Scholars eGroup. He is also writing a biography of the social activist P. T. Bhaskara Panicker.

Most recently, as Publication Officer of Madras Institute of Development Studies, Ashok headed the publishing division of the research institute. Earlier, he was Senior Commissioning Editor at SAGE Publications, where his chief tasks were to select manuscripts, shape books, and help in producing and marketing the books.

Before entering media, Ashok was a member of consultancy teams for international development agencies on policy analysis, impact assessment, and programme evaluation.

Ashok has published opinion, feature, and satire articles in newspapers, including The Hindu, The New Indian Express, The Hindu Business Line, Business Standard, The Pioneer, and DNA. He was also a columnist for Media magazine.

Ashok is a postgraduate in Development Studies (London School of Economics; LSE) and Politics with specialisation in International Relations (Jawaharlal Nehru University; JNU).
